Plasma Displays
29/05/2009 by Patrick.
After having just bought a new plasma display I am amazed at what people fail to tell on the reviews and info web sites.
Plasma TVs come to life in the evening when the lights are low. They look OK during the day but really shine at night !
Love It !! I Bought the Panansonic TX-P50G10 and Wow what an awesome TV it is - A whole new Visual watching experience!

Bitrate for YouTube
02/03/2009 by Patrick.
It seems that the handling of streamed media from YouTube is handled by the Host machines processor and not the server machines hardware. This means it will be best to optimise for an average (1-2 Year Old) processor spec and encode SD at around 450kbits/sec and HD around 1350 kbits/sec (at 1280 x 720).
Hope this helps.

Figuring out how BitRate works
20/02/2009 by Patrick.
I am currently working out how bitrates work and what is the best way to upload HD videos to You Tube. It is quite complex and depends on many aspects. I am slowly getting somewhere and will post my findings as soon as I have understood it clearly

I am very impressed with Blogo for the Mac. It makes posting stuff to my blog a breeze.
Anyway - an update - and news - my little sister is getting married - Go Emaline !!!
I have bought a Canon DG20 and will post results here - it is a cheapish camcorder that works in HD.
I am at the Broadcast show tomorrow and it may arrive then - More on that later.
My cold remains - and my tooth repair work continues at 4pm today - OUCH ! ( and it is not me!)

Ponderings on the Housing Market
02/02/2009 by Patrick.
What is the relationship (if any) between the equities market and the housing market? Certainly the stock market crash in the 30s led to mass unemployment (25% in USA) and ultimately lower house prices, and this appears to be happening now too. Did this depression lead directly or indirectly to the War 9 years later ? One can only guess!
And what of good old blighty ? Although enquiries appear to be up in recent weeks, this is not by all accounts translating into sales as the mortgage lenders criteria has become more stringent and tighter to reflect their concerns about the market.
I am still looking for a scenario where all of MY factors come together - Price / Location /Style and outlook.
